‘Hero’ Bartender Used Fake Receipt To Save Two Women From Creepy Man
Unfortunately, nowadays there are few women who can say that they've never been the target of unwanted advances from a man in public, whether that be in a bar or in a grocery store.
And much of the time, women don't necessarily know how to handle the situation because they don't want to make it worse, but they just want to be left alone. There are men like this bartender coming up though, who pay attention to the signals and help women in need.
Two Friends Out Trying To Have A Good Night
Two women in St. Petersburg, Florida, were out for the night, trying to enjoy a drink at a bar, minding their own business.
One of the women, Trinity Allie, took to Twitter though to share details of their eventful night.
Here's How The Story Goes
The woman says that while she and her friend were having a drink at the bar, a man came up to them and started "harassing" them.
The man was quite persistent and wasn't leaving the two alone.
The Bartender Was Watching The Situation Play Out
While the two women were dealing with the man, bartender Max Gutierrez was behind the bar watching the situation play out.
He felt like he needed to step in, and he came up with a creative way to do it.
Here's Your "Receipt"
In order to check on the women, Max decided that he would pass the women a receipt—or at least what would look like a receipt—to the unsuspecting man.
The receipt had a note written on it though.
"He's Giving ME The Creeps"
On the note, Max instructed the woman to subtly change her hairstyle if she was in need of assistance so the bartender would know to step in.
After being repeatedly harassed by the man, Trinity and her friend were looking for their out.
Max Took Action After Seeing The Signal
In a follow-up tweet, Trinity shared that Max told the patron, "You need to get the f*** away from these girls who are clearly not interested."
Not only that, but he also had him removed altogether.
The Story Went Viral And Max Was Praised
After Trinity tweeted out the photo, the story quickly blew up. Women praised Max for his quick thinking and for stepping in when he saw the women in need.
One woman even responded, "Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear Hawaiian shirts."
The Bartender Responded On A Reddit Post
After the story was posted to Reddit, Max responded to a comment sharing that "eventually [as a bartender] you become pretty good at reading people, body language, etc."
He also wrote that "this guy was giving off very weird vibes for quite a while" before he stepped in to help the women.
Calling Them Out Is Usually Enough
Max said that while "I honestly don't like yelling at customers or embarrassing people" that's what happened here—because the man wasn't getting the message.
"Calling them out in front of people is usually enough to get them to turn tail and walk away." Since the man didn't listen at first, he had no choice but to be a bit more aggressive.
The Situation Was Defused Thanks To Max
Max successfully de-escalated the situation and made the women feel safe while setting an example for other mixologists and people in general. Just to make the story better, the patron apparently came back to the bar a few days after the incident and Max was working. He was not served.
Trinity also clarified later that she had the bartender pose for a photo with the note after the situation was resolved.
