Woman Wants Tubes Tied, But Her Gynecologist Refuses Incase She Meets “Mr. Right”
Most people dream about meeting the right guy, falling in love, getting married, and then settling down and having kids.
However, there is a growing number of people among the population who do not want kids, including 22-year-old TikToker Olivia. Too bad her gynecologist has other plans for her life.
Olivia Asks Her Gynecologist For A Tubal Ligation
22-year-old Olivia Downs made a viral TikTok video about her interaction with her gynecologist.
She politely asked her gynecologist for tubal ligation (tube tying) because she never wants kids, period.
Who Is "Mr. Right"
But her gynecologist refused because it's a permanent procedure. Olivia, of course, knew this; why else would she be asking for it?
For his reasoning, her gynecologist said, "You might meet 'Mr. Right,' and change your mind."
Children Are Not In Olivia's Plans
Olivia said, "No, it's not in my plan; it's not in my 5-year plan, it's not in my 10-year plan, it's not in my 50-year plan."

So the gynecologist gave Olivia a pamphlet for an IUD because they're just as effective as tying your tubes.
Except Olivia has an issue with the bleeding and three months of pain that come with it.

Many commented on Olivia's post, supporting her and saying that the doctor was out of line.
They also noted the double standard regarding people who want kids and those who don't.

But of course, others believe that humans are supposed to reproduce.
In another TikTok video, Olivia addresses this concern saying, "Me getting pregnant doesn't mean the human race will go extinct. There's no shortage of humans out there. Also, women are more than just incubators."
The Hypocrisy Of It All
Commenters have pointed out the hypocrisy of it all; a woman is old enough at 18 to have a baby, but then she's too young to decide if she doesn't want kids.
At the age of 18, people are considered heroes for joining the military. But aren't questioned if they want to fight a war.
The Other Ways Aren't As Effective
In another TikTok video, Olivia states what other women have gone through after being denied tubal ligation.
Those that were given hormonal birth control or an IUD as a replacement still became pregnant - which is clearly something they didn't want.

Then Olivia answers the viral question, "What if you decide you want kids?"
Well, Olivia lists the different ways one can have a kid; IVF, surrogate, or crazy idea, Olivia could adopt!
Doctors Not Listening To Their Patients
Some women have had to be blunt with their doctors about being pregnant.
Yet, for some reason, these doctors would rather a woman get pregnant even though she had decided against it.

Other people, and even doctors, have commented on Olivia's TikTok, giving information about doctors who will easily perform a tubal ligation.
They fully support Olivia and others who do not want to go through a pregnancy.
This Is What Women Are Being Told
Olivia is one in a long line of women who do not see children in their future. Thankfully, there are doctors out there who are more than willing to help these ladies with a tube tying procedure.
Further down the line, if these women change their minds about children, there are other options aside from pregnancy.
