A Woman Shared How To Properly Check A Bra Size At Home And We’re Taking Notes
If you're one of the people who know their exact bra size and cup shape, you're surprisingly among the minority.
There are actually quite a few things to consider when bra shopping, including band size, bust, and even fit.
A Woman Shared A Video Explaining How To Properly Measure Your Bra Size At Home
TikTok user Madison Anne shared a video to explain the best way to go about bra sizing at home.
It's not as straightforward as choosing small, medium, or large, but thankfully there are experts like Madison Anne to help out average people like myself.
It's Important To Check Your Size Every Six Months
According to Madison, checking your bra size is something that should be done every six months.
This is because the body naturally gains and loses weight over time, which combined with hormone fluctuations can affect your bra size.
You Have To Consider Both Band And Bust
There are two important measurements to consider when fitting a bra.
The band is measured with a number, like 34, 36, or 38 for example. Whereas the bust is used to calculate your cup size, which is measured in letters like A, B, and C.
Place The Measuring Tape Beneath Your Breasts And Around Your Ribs
In order to properly measure your band, place a measuring tape underneath your breasts, around your ribs.
Madison Anne says to bring the measuring tape all the way around until it connects, and explains that if you are an odd number to round up to the next even number to ensure comfort.
Next, Wrap The Measuring Tape Around The Fullest Part Of Your Breasts
In order to figure out your bust size, you will need to wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your breasts.
Don't pull the tape too tightly, just to a comfortable position.
If Your Measurement Is A Half Number, Round Up To The Nearest Whole Number
If your measurement is a half number, round up to the nearest whole number.
Now you should have two numbers. Madison says to bear with her because the next part involves some simple math.
Subtract Your Band Measurement From Your Bust Measurement And Record The Difference
All you have to do is take your band measurement and subtract it from your bust measurement, then record the difference.
The difference in inches is actually what determines your cup size.
There Is A Chart To Help You Determine What Size Your Measurements Translate To
Madison Anne then displays a chart on her screen that will help you determine your cup size based on your numerical measurements.
She reveals her own measurement for her band is 36, and after calculating the difference and viewing the chart, determined that her true cup size is a DD/E. Altogether, her size reads 36DD/E.
