Woman Finds Tampon In Boyfriend’s Room, Gets Tampax Involved To Figure Out Whose It Is
No one ever wants to discover that their significant other is cheating. While it causes most people to be emotionally devastated, for others, it makes them put on their detective hats.
One woman has gone viral on TikTok for the lengths she went to to discover whether or not the man she'd been seeing was a cheater. And for this investigation, she requested corporate help.
Catching A Cheater
Social media is filled with stories where scorned lovers have outed their exes for being cheaters. From Fitbits to Instagram stories or suspicious text messages, many of these people reveal how they learned that their significant other was cheating on them.
So when it comes to the various methods of catching a cheater, have you ever thought of using—of all items—a packaged tampon?
The TikTok
Lois, also known as @loissa4 on TikTok, recently went viral after she discovered mysterious feminine items that didn't belong to her in the home of a man named Fin, who she was casually seeing.
The video has received 7.8 million views and nearly 800,000 likes. The post is captioned with, "#tampax had my back."
Mysterious Objects
The video begins with Lois on the ground at Fin's home as she peers underneath his closet. Hidden underneath the closet amid dust is a single packaged tampon and a tube of mascara—two items that Lois believes are highly suspicious since they don't belong to her.
"He's in denial that he's had a girl here," she says.
Customer Service
The tampon Lois found was produced by Tampax, so Lois sent an email to the customer support division of Tampax's parent company Proctor & Gamble.
In the email, she says that she found a code printed on the tampon's wrapper and wants to know what the code means, but also when it was manufactured, citing that she's doing "some investigation" of her own.
Date Of Manufacture
Sometime later, Lois receives a reply from a Tampax representative named Grace who shed light on the customer service issue.
Lois' hunch regarding the code on the tampon wrapper was correct; the individual tampon that Lois found under Fin's closet was manufactured on December 11, 2019. For reference, Lois discovered the tampon in May 2021.
Story Time
So how did we get to this point? In a follow-up TikTok, Lois explains that on that day, she was at Fin's place for the first time. She was sitting on his lap when she accidentally fell over and then happened to notice the random tampon and mascara under the closet.
Lois then confronted Fin who said he didn't know who it belonged to and that he's never had a girl stay in that room before.
An Investigation
Skeptical of his story, Lois says that she was left with no choice other than to "take things into my own hands." Lois knew that she could search the manufacturing dates of makeup products online via a special code and decided to do the same thing with the tampon and emailed Tampax.
Lois says that Fin told her, "What the actual f***, you're literally nuts."
"Clearing Fin's Name"
Lois explains that at the time of the incident, she and Fin weren't exclusive, but were casually seeing each other. He denied that the products belonged to a mistress, but explains that his place used to be a university house, so it could belong to a student who used to live there.
"To this day, we'll never know," she says. "He says it wasn't him, and I believe him, and we actually are together to this day, so very happy ending actually."
Run For Your Life
Lois' TikToks quickly went viral with thousands of comments, and whether you're on Lois' side or Fin's side, users had a lot to say about her investigation. On the one hand, many thought Lois' behavior was extreme, especially because at the time, she and Fin weren't exclusively dating.
But, they had one message for Fin. "Run for your life, Finn. Don't look back," one user commented.
A Walking Red Flag
While many users sympathized with Fin, others said that Lois' reaction to what was at the time a casual fling was full of red flags and incredibly "toxic." Many said that emailing Tampax was a step too far and that Lois is teaching other women it's okay to be toxic in a relationship.
"I have never heard such a toxic story in my life," one user wrote. "Poor lad."
Understanding Lois
But, many other users were impressed by Lois' investigation skills and said if you were a woman, you'd understand her point of view. They said that even though Lois and Fin weren't exclusive, she had a right to know if the man she'd been casually seeing for months was unfaithful.
"I'd have genuinely done the same thing, clearly your [boyfriend] wasn’t bothered and had a laugh with it," one user wrote.
Grace For The Win
Regardless of whether you support Lois or Fin, many users thought that the true MVP of this story was Tampax customer service employee Grace. They said that her customer service skills went above and beyond and that she deserves a pay raise. After the TikTok went viral, even Tampax itself got involved.
"Grace said girls support girls and gave receipts," one user commented.
