Woman Shares Her Tips For How To Please A Man, Instantly Receives Backlash
Every happy couple has its recipe for success. But think about all the individual things you do to make your partner happy—do they also reciprocate this generosity?
One woman went viral on TikTok for sharing her tips on how to please the man in your life, but while the video itself might be satirical, it's getting people talking about whether this kind of mentality is the secret to a healthy relationship or is an outdated and sexist trope.
A Happy Relationship
There are probably a lot of little things you do to make your boyfriend or husband happy. From cooking dinner to doing all the laundry, to letting him go on guys' trips every year and getting naughty for him, a lot of thought goes into these acts of love.
But when it comes to the list of things you do to make your partner happy, do they also treat you with the same level of affection, or are things a little one-sided?
The TikTok
Uliana, also known as @girlygirluk on TikTok, shares videos that capture "Humor, satire and my life." One of her recent TikToks has received nearly 600,000 views and 12,000 likes, and regardless of which side you're on, it's definitely getting users talking.
She captions the post, "Really not so hard."
Pleasing Your Man In Seven Easy Steps
The video itself is short and @girlygirluk doesn't speak at all during it, but, the TikTok speaks volumes. It's captioned, "A man really isn't hard to please."
So what are the seven easy steps that every woman should know in order to keep her man happy? They include feeding and kissing your significant other, wearing dresses, acting flirty toward him, being his best friend, turning your home into a paradise, and giving him compliments in the shower.
Satire Or Reality?
In @girlygirluk's user profile, she says that she posts a lot of satirical content, but it's not known whether this particular video is supposed to be satire. While many users assumed the video was a joke and nothing to get worked up about, others didn't quite see it that way.
Even if this single video is satire, there are people out there with this mentality. It brought up the question of whether "pleasing your man" is just smart relationship skills or sexism.
A Sad Mindset
The video did draw stark criticism from users for its man-pleasing tips. Regardless of whether or not it's a joke, some people said it's a dangerous lesson to teach young girls who might not know the difference. Other users said the notion of needing to "please your man" needs to go once and for all.
"Girls get taught enough in society that their role is to please men. They don't need it from women too, especially not on an app for teens," one user wrote.
Perhaps She's Onto Something
Other users thought there was even something to be learned from the TikTok. While a few men praised @girlygirluk's video, many others either immediately shut them down or offered another insight. While doing those specific things is important in order to please one's boyfriend/husband, men should treat their girlfriends/wives with the same affection.
"Why does it have to be a joke? This is the way my wife is as well and I make sure she gets treated the same!" one user wrote.
