A Woman Shared Her Highly Unusual Lockdown Situation On Social Media
The woman did not identify herself by name but goes by "Wang Yi in Guangzhou" on her Douyin profile, which is the Chinese version of TikTok.
She shared a series of now-viral clips that showed her highly unusual lockdown situation.
She Traveled From Guangzhou To Zhengzhou For A Series Of Arranged Dates Her Parents Set Up
First, Wang explained that because she's getting a little bit older, her family made a plan to introduce her to more than 10 blind dates in hopes of finding a suitable partner.
She traveled more than 915 miles from Guangzhou to Zhengzhou for a series of these arranged dates.
During Her Fifth Date, The City Of Zhengzhou Imposed A COVID-19 Lockdown
The woman was on her fifth blind date in the lineup when she found herself facing a sudden pandemic lockdown trapped in her date's apartment.
The only thing to do was hunker down and share her insane experience on social media, where it soon gained international attention.
The Date Was Planned At His Apartment So He Could Show Off His Cooking Skills
Wang told The Paper, a Shanghai-based digital newspaper, that she had originally agreed to meet at her date's apartment so that he could "show off his cooking" skills with a homemade meal.
She had no clue they would end up spending over a week in the apartment together, and not by choice.
He Was The Silent, Awkward Type
In some now-deleted videos, Wang commented about her date being "mute as a mannequin" and "awkward," showing him quietly working away around the apartment.
In a follow-up social media post, the woman said she decided to take the videos down after they went viral because she feared they had affected her date's life.
He Barely Speaks But Everything Else Is Great
Wang clarified her comments afterward while speaking to local media, calling her lockdown host a gracious one.
She added that even though he barely speaks, he "cooks, cleans up, works" and that "everything else is great."
She Was Stuck On The Lockdown Date For At Least One Week
When Wang's story went viral, she had been living with her quiet lockdown date for over a week, but it's unclear if she was able to get special permission from authorities to leave.
Either way, putting in a week's worth of time for a single dinner date is a lot of work.

The woman said she was grateful to everyone for their concern and that she would hang in there and ride out the lockdown.
Most importantly, she said, "I hope the pandemic will soon be over, and all my single sisters will no longer be alone." Same here, girl, same here.
