Proof That It Might Be Time To Admit We’re Old
It was bound to happen eventually. As we age, we will begin to feel the inevitable sense of feeling old and out of touch. We start using phrases like "kid's these days," and being shocked that someone doesn't know what a tape is.
That Needs To Be Addressed
Can you wrap your head around it? A whole generation of kids who don't know the song "Toxic"? They should make it mandatory listening in schools. She's such an important part of our history, you know.
RIP, Boy Bands
Well, boy bands are still a thing, but they'll never capture hearts the way that Backstreet Boys and NSYNC did. Oh, you know Justin Timberlake? Did you listen to him before his solo stuff?
I Almost Forgot Those Existed
Do you remember how big a deal it was when your friend's parents had a car that had automatic windows? It was a big deal. So many of our first cars had manual windows.
Snow Days Are The Best Days
Is it just me, or does it seem like kids have way more snow days now than when we were younger? Getting a push notification would have been sweet because back in the day, you still had to wake up on time.
Say It Ain't So
The Motorola Razor is in a museum. A MUSEUM! That phone used to be a status symbol. It was the phone to have before iPhones were a thing. Don't lie, if it came back, would you get one?
We Aren't This Old Yet
But someday, we are going to be sitting in the malls on our phones and the kids are going to be sitting on some other kind of futuristic devices and we will look out of touch!
The Rush Was Addictive
You don't know intense TV until you're also holding in a pee for the commercial break. You had so much to do in those few minutes. Get a snack, use the washroom, and who knows what else.
Different Movies, Same Love
Isn't it wild that there are going to be whole generations of kids who know different versions of our favorite movies like Jurassic Park or the Avengers movies? Will they still care about James Bond?
I Can Hear This Picture
If you had a new outfit or a new haircut, you would always get up to sharpen your pencil so that the whole class could see. This is where our social anxiety was born.
Oh Sweet Memories
Some of us are even old enough to remember having tapes of our favorite albums! It was always fun to rewind them with your fingers or a pencil. And to think this was bleeding edge technology at one point.
I Never Thought Of That
This is what I mean. We just all got so used to saying that we hang up the phone that we didn't even realize that phones don't need hanging up anymore.
Remember These?
Who else hated being the student that was stuck sitting next to one of these? They would always get so hot and it sucked when the fan blew on you.
That Isn't Even Me Now
It's a world of difference between preteens and teenagers now. They all somehow know how to do their makeup and hair. Meanwhile, we had blue eyeliner and graphic tees when we were that age.
We Heart Troy Bolton
Anyone who wants to know more about Zac Efron's humble beginnings should stop what they are doing and pop in High School Musical. It's honestly an iconic film that everyone should see.
Our Poor Computers
Remember back in the day when we would spend hours waiting for our songs to download, and then we would have to manually rename them and then upload them to a device? And all you could listen to was what you downloaded.
Times Are Tough
That existential dread starts kicking in younger and younger. I mean, can we blame them? The world is a tough place, and with social media, we are seeing that more and more.
But...There Is Ping Pong Right Here
What's so interesting about this is that she probably crushes it at ping pong on the Wii but would suck at it in real life. It might be time to get rid of that table.
We Have Games On Our Phones Now
There was just something about holding that Game Boy in the color of your choice and playing the game plugged into the back. Plus, who could forget those Game Boy sound effects?
At Least They're Both Having Fun
Who could resist the call of those Legos? They were the worst to step on, but they were magical when it came to a way to build the things going on in our imaginations.
We're Going To Get Even Older
And we are going to end up even more out of touch than we might be now. It will be a struggle, but at least it will mean we earned our right to find the next generations annoying.
Take All Your Favorites On The Go
Honestly, these binders were the perfect, space-saving way to show off your collection of cds and dvds. You could never to this with VHS tapes (if you even remember those) but I'm pretty thankful we can just stream everything now.
