This Job Posting For An Influencer Assistant Will Make You Never Want To Quit Your Job
We live in a world dominated by social media and influencer culture. You might not think this is true right away, but think about it. I'm sure that you probably follow at least one influencer because you like their makeup or their workout tips, or maybe you someday aspire to live a similar life. But they are everywhere, and there is no denying that.
It's Wild That It's A Way People Make A Living
It feels as though everything you post somehow gets lost in the void, and yet there are people living their best life just off what they post online? I won't lie, I'm jealous. There is an elephant in the room, though...and that is addressing the kind of person some influencers seem to be.
Recently, An Anonymus Influencer Posted A Job Looking For An Assistant
At first, that probably seems like a really sweet gig. I would click into it to check it out. However, as you start to read the job description, it starts to become a little bit ridiculous.
Like, I Don't Even Look After Myself This Well
I get that it might be a demanding job to be an influencer, and I might also buy that it's stressful, and there is no shame in looking for an assistant!
But Come On
Advertising it and paying it as a part-time position but then asking the person to be on call 24/7 and able to drop everything at a moment's notice to travel? That's too much.
It Gets More Ridiculous
The one that really kills me is when they list in the actual job description that waking them up each day with their coffee and a copy of their schedule is a must. Like...don't you have a man for that?
Yeah, That's A Lot, Right?
It might be easy to write this person off as a maniac and think that they can't all possibly be that bad, but in a classic case of irony, the internet is here to prove that theory wrong.
Someone Had To Say It
Being young and ambitious is an important quality, but being young and ambitious is not the same as asking companies to send you free stuff so you can show it off to your barely-hit-puberty followers.
You're Literally Not Special
One of the things that bothers people the most about influencers is how entitled they are. Like this person who thought they should be able to eat for free when even a real celebrity pays.
They Might Want The Fake Mustache After That
This person has a point. Before we had social media influencers, we still got reviews from magazines and other publications by people who went to places and paid for their meal or purchased the products they were trying.
Some Of Them Are Just Plain Rude
What kind of person thinks that it is appropriate to message a restaurant and basically tell them that since things are bad right now, they should be giving their meals away for free?
When Did This Become A Thing?
It doesn't matter how many likes a post may get, that doesn't translate into actual money that is going to help someone pay their bills and support what is probably a freelance lifestyle.
How Much Good Do They Actually Do?
It seems to be a known fact for small businesses that when they give things away for free in order to get exposure, they end up losing money. How often do they actually pull through with the advertisement?
This Is Actually Smart
Instead of fully saying no to this person, the photographer came back to them with a deal that would hopefully allow them to pay the artist for the pictures they are looking for.
Guess You Don't Love It That Much
You must not love that brand if you won't actually spend your own money to support them. Don't people know by now that the best way to support anyone is to not ask them for anything for free?
Do Your Research First
It's wild that there are people out there who will really message a company asking for free stuff when they don't even have as many followers as that brand! They are doing just fine on their own.
Now They're Asking People For Money?
Imagine having the audacity to message a company asking them to pay you to post pictures of their product or their restaurant for them? When they can literally just do that themselves?
That's A Lot Of Emojis
The crazy thing is that they probably don't even think that what they are doing is kind of questionable. They probably really do think they are providing an important service.
I Don't Need An Introduction, Thanks
Again, introducing someone to your followers doesn't actually mean anything. There isn't any guarantee that that's going to help them bring in any revenue. They'll probably end up out of money if they give things away for free.
He's Got A Point
This chef has more followers that 8,900 people and they can just as easily post the picture of their food themselves. People don't have time to deal with this stuff, you know?
Wow, That's Beautiful
When in doubt, you've got to take matters into your own hands and prove your point. If you're not willing to pay for your work, you're going to get free work.
