Woman Reveals That Her Boyfriend Pays The Rent But Doesn’t Know She’s The Landlord
A healthy relationship will see couples splitting bills and household chores fairly. Depending on one's workload or salary, this agreement can look different for every couple, but what's most important is that everyone is on the same page. At least, that's how it's supposed to be.
One TikTok user is stirring up a debate about the arrangement she has with her boyfriend when it comes to who pays the monthly bills. There's just one problem—he isn't aware of it.
Living Together
It's an exciting time when a couple decides to finally move in together. But along with decisions such as who sleeps on what side of the bed and what furniture is being kept or being sold is the issue of finances. Particularly, when it comes to the rent and other bills, who's supposed to pay for what?
One TikTok user is sharing the arrangement she has with her boyfriend, and some users are proclaiming that she's "cracked the code."
The TikTok
Jaynee, also known as @jaynedoee0 on TikTok, has created quite the debate with one of her latest videos. Having gone viral with over three million views and 430,000 likes, Jaynee explains that she and her boyfriend have been living together for a year now, but things aren't as blissful as they seem.
"Do y'all think he'll be mad once he finds out?"
Divide And Conquer
Every couple has a different arrangement when it comes to shared bills, and Jaynee and her boyfriend are no exception. She explains that as part of their relationship, her boyfriend pays the rent and all of the major bills.
You might think that it's a fair setup, except for one missing and important piece of information.
She's The Landlord
Jaynee then drops a bombshell and says that she's actually the landlord of their home, and has owned the property for five years now. Her boyfriend meanwhile is completely unaware and believes that they are renters.
She then ends the video by saying, "So his direct deposits are going straight to me."
"You Cracked The Code"
Many users applauded Jaynee's idea calling it a "boss move." Others said there's no harm in what she's doing because that money is ultimately going toward important bills, like the mortgage or property taxes, and even if the boyfriend was living on his own, he'd still be paying bills, so this is no different.
"It's an investment and security for you if the relationship ends. You're being compensated for your time and effort sis," one user wrote.
"Poor Guy"
However, not all users were applauding Jaynee's entrepreneurship skills. Many thought that her method was deceitful, and others said that it seems like Jaynee found a great boyfriend, but as soon as he finds out what she's been doing, he'll dump her. Others wondered whether this was even a real story.
"That's so wrong. Shows you're just using him. Poor guy," one user commented.
