People Who Got Burned Share Subtle Signs You Shouldn’t Trust Someone
There is nothing worse than looking back on a relationship you had with someone and seeing that it was a hot mess before it even really began, you just didn't really notice the signs. The irony is that, often, these things aren't clear to us until after the fact when we talk it out with our friends and spend way too much time thinking about what went wrong.
Luckily, and sadly, it isn't an uncommon thing, and people are sharing the signs they wish they had noticed before things got too serious.
They Shouldn't Have To Convince You
If someone is trustworthy, then they should be able to show you that with their actions, not by constantly telling you that they're trustworthy with only their words. If they tell you too often, it's almost like they are drawing attention to the fact that they aren't.
They're Projecting, Big Time
It's like they always say, someone who is guilty of something is always going to project that onto the other person and make them feel like they're guilty of something they haven't even done.
Secrets Don't Make Friends, OK?
It's OK to have secrets and stuff with someone you're seeing. Really, you should want to tell them things and confide in them, but if they're constantly telling you that everything you're talking about is a secret...red flag? I think so.
Here Is The Biggest One Of All
We all pretty much know this one, but it bears repeating...anyone who tells you that every one of their exes is crazy is probably the crazy one. It's probably a lot more likely that those exes were just reacting to some pretty questionable behavior.
It's Human To Be Wrong Sometimes
If someone can never admit to being wrong, or they always have an answer for everything, even something you're sure they should know nothing about, then they're probably making things up. Then how can you trust what is real or not?
If You Have To Say It....
Anytime someone would say this to me when I went on a date with them, in the back of my head, I would always think, "Who are you trying to convince? Me or you?"
Liars Are Always The Same
If someone is bragging to you about the things they have gotten away with in life because they could lie their way out of it, it's only a matter of time until they do it to you.
Grudges Help No One
It's always been a red flag for me if I'm talking with someone and they have a whole list of people they don't like for various reasons, none of which seem like reason enough to hate someone.
You Never Know What They're Thinking
OK, we all like to gossip a little bit with the people closest to us, but there is a big difference between talking about your life and talking crap about literally everyone they know.
Here Is Another Big One
It would make sense that if someone promises you not to do something, they wouldn't do it again, would they? But guess what? Some people don't look at it that way and will keep doing whatever they can get away with.
No One Likes A Selfie Person
Is it just me, or are those people who can only talk about themselves kind of the worst? Especially the people who are always talking themselves up and trying to make themselves the coolest person in the room.
There's A Difference Between Sharing Stories And Being A Jerk
We all know at least one person who literally has to always get the last word in, no matter what is being talked about. They're the kind of person who will say, "you think that's bad..."
People Who Try Too Hard
If I meet someone and they're overly flirty and a big smooth talker, I always think of that right away as a sign that this person isn't to be trusted. They're going to say whatever they think they need to to get what they want.
Some Jokes Just Aren't Funny
Someone who is going to say mean things to you under the pretense that they're making jokes and you shouldn't be so sensitive are not only untrustworthy, they're disrespectful and care about no one other than themselves.
No Respect For Your Time
It's really disrespectful to take advantage of someone's time, right? If someone is making plans and then canceling them or just not showing up, ditch them. It's only going to get worse.
Paranoia Isn't Cute
Someone who always has their guard up thinking that someone is going to take advantage of them is likely so worried about it because they do it to other people and know that it's wrong.
Over-Sharing, Especially In The Beginning
You obviously want the person you're dating to feel like they can tell you what they're going through in life, but there are times when you just know that they're lying, or it's way too early to be sharing that kind of information.
They Can't Keep People's Secrets
It doesn't matter how long you've been with someone, there are just some things that you don't share with them, like your friends' secrets, especially if they've asked you not to.
Safety Is Important
It isn't even just not using the turn signal, it's the same thing as someone who leaves their table a mess when they go out for dinner or someone who doesn't put things back in the grocery store where they belong—they just don't respect anyone else.
They Have Expectations That Are Too High
They want to be treated fairly and with respect and whatnot, but they're allowed to be as awful as they want to be if it is going to make their life easier.
