Woman Ignites Debate Saying People Who Delete Messages Are Cheaters
Cheating is a controversial topic, and most of us have probably been hurt at one time in our lives by a former lover. Everyone knows that when it comes to cheating, things like jumping into bed or kissing someone who’s not your significant other are the biggest red flags.
But TikTok user Jillt01 says those aren't the only signs to watch out for.
The TikTok Video
In the now-viral TikTok, user Jillt01 explains, “Cheating isn’t always kissing, flirting, or more. If you’re deleting messages, or you don’t leave your phone with your partner, you go into panic mode — then you’re already there.”
Unsurprisingly, users who viewed the video all had strong opinions.
Going Viral
The video has received over 100,000 views, more than 5,000 reactions, and hundreds of comments. It’s sparked a debate among Jillt01’s users asking, what actually counts as cheating, and what’s normal and innocent behavior?
Now it has people analyzing their own behavior, especially when it comes to cell phone use and social media.
The Immediate Reaction
Most TikTok users who commented on Jill’s post agreed with her that shady cell phone behavior counts as cheating.
“Cannot agree more,” said user Kristian Baker. “Just lost my bestie/wife after 22 yrs for this exact reason.”
The Immediate Reaction, Continued
User sam2212 said, “Looking back I should have trusted my gut and intuition when I spotted the signs instead of listening to the reasoning.”
Most of the reactions to Jill’s video supported her line of thinking. TikTok user Nylonspy hit the nail on the head when they said that “Mobile phones are the 3rd and 4th extension to every relationship.”
Disagreeing Viewpoints
But not everyone was so quick to see Jill’s point of view. Having cell phones has certainly complicated relationships, and some users pointed out that sometimes things aren’t always black and white.
Jay Johnstone said “isn’t this just absolutely wrong. If I want to buy my misses something nice or plan something as a surprise then I’ll remove emails and messages.”
Disagreeing Viewpoints, Continued
TikTok user User A likened a person’s cell phone to a private diary, while User8696364601082 asked what happened to the concept of innocent until proven guilty, and said Jill’s rush to judgment was “overreacting.”
User6120078794434 said, “my bestie is a female of 35 years and there’s NEVER been anything in it but my partner would never believe that!!!”
What About OnlyFans?
There’s been a lot of debate surrounding OnlyFans lately. If you’re old like me, OnlyFans is a platform where users can post original content and subscribers pay for it. Because of this, it’s become very popular among sex workers.
Twitter user Codesvandamn wasn’t actually caught cheating, and it turned out to be a hilarious misunderstanding between him and his wife.
Sorry To Segue…
Sorry to get sidetracked, but only $4 spent at Target? Seriously, I agree with _SEAmusic. How does one person spend under $5 at Target and can you offer a seminar to teach us your ways?
My credit card cries every time I walk into Costco.
So You Wanna Be My Sugar Daddy
Another topic that comes up when discussing cheating in the digital age is whether following random women on Instagram is considered cheating, especially if they're scantily clad. Although most people would probably agree that direct messaging the person crosses the line.
Seriously though, don’t be this guy. I know I’m worth way more than only $700 a week.
Fun With Fruit
So what do you think? Is deleting text messages or not allowing your partner to see your phone considered cheating like Jill believes, or are things not always that simple?
