Clothing Companies Apologize For Sexist Tags That Were Meant To Be Funny

People used to put more time into properly caring for their clothes. Nowadays, most people just throw all of their clothes into the washing machine on a "regular" setting with cold water, not even bothering to look at the tags.

People on TikTok are starting to look a bit closer, noticing some questionable and misogynistic tags, and it's caused quite a stir.

Millie posted a video on TikTok, which reads, "I don't think I *can* handle this."

And in her video, we are given multiple examples of clothing companies making big mistakes.

What's the big mistake? Well, some clothing companies thought it'd be a good idea to write "Give It To Yout Woman" on their clothing tags.

Basically, these companies are implying that it's a woman's job to wash clothes. Which it's not.

Many comments on Millie's video showed similar outrage at the tags.

Some made fun of men, saying, "Men think it's a flex to be useless." And others wanted to know what brands the clothes were from.

Now, this isn't the first time this has happened. In 2017, Missguided, a clothing company in the UK, wrote, "Or give this to your mum she'll wash it" on their clothes.

They admitted they were trying to be funny, "It's just a simple joke aimed at teenagers who are our target."

In 2015, Salvo Sports received backlash for their tags which read, "Give this to your woman. It's her job."

They also apologized, saying, "instead of washing it in the wrong way, you might as well give it to a lady because they are more capable." And they wanted men to learn how to take care of clothes.

Now come on, it's the 21st century; aren't we as a society supposed to be past sexist stereotypes?

Haven't we learned that stereotypes harm an individual's mental health? And these companies' apologies aren't genuine. They're saying either men are useless or it's a woman's job to wash clothes.
