“Dear Millennials, Stop Doing These Poses”: Pose Expert Calls Out Millennial Poses In Photos
"Say cheese!" - The phrase we all dread hearing when someone's taking a picture of us. It's because saying "cheese" is similar to smiling. But pictures aren't always only of a face - so what do we do with the rest of our body during a picture!? Christine Buzan Is a posing expert and she's not sugar-coating her advice to millennials.
Christine Buzan, Posing Expert
Christine Buzan (lookgoodinphotos) is a posing expert on TikTok with over a decade of experience.
She coaches and gives tips to people to help them be more photogenic for pictures.
Millenial Posing Problems
In a series of videos Christine tackles the problem of "Millenial Poses".
According to her, these poses may have been okay in the early 2010s but they need to go.
"Poses Come And Go Like Fashion Trends"
"Just like beauty and fashion trends come in, and out of style, posing is the exact same way. We liked taking selfies from a high angle, and it stuck with us."
"But we've all changed our makeup trends, so let's change our posing trend!"
"The High Camera Angle" Pose
The high camera angle pose is typically used to hide a double chin and makes the face look slimmer.
But on the other hand it gives poor angles on the upper body making the shoulders and chest larger.
Christine's Alternative Pose
Instead of the high-angle pose, Christine suggests having your camera at collar bone level.
In her example, the photo isn't just shoulders and chest, and her head doesn't look huge like in the high-angle pose. But more of her body shows, and her hips are angled.
Tackling The Teapot Pose
In another video tackling "millenial poses" Christine takes on the "Teapot" or "skinny arm pose" to make it look more modern.
"Your value as a human is more than trying to make your arm look skinny in a photo!"
Christine's Modern Teapot Pose
To Christine, the arm going out to the side is the worst part of the teapot pose. So she recommends pushing the elbow backward.
Putting your thumb into your pocket, leaving your hand on your leg or flipping your hand all make for a better pose!
Don't Say "Cheese"
Actually, in one of Christine's other TikTok videos, she says "Don't say cheese" because your mouth goes out instead of up and your eyes squint, and it looks forced.
Instead, she recommends saying, "money!"
