One Guy’s Response To Not Getting A Second Date Is Why We’re Better Off Single
When we start dating someone new, we hope it will lead to something more—but sometimes, the romance is just dead on arrival. For every person who ends a relationship amicably, there's another who just can't take rejection and lashes out in immature, misogynistic, and even frightening ways.
One woman on TikTok shared her story of telling a man she wasn't interested in a second date, and now she has gone viral.
First Dates
It can take a lot of courage to go on a first date with someone. After all, this person is a total stranger, and there are a lot of unknowns, such as if they're going to be a stick in the mud, will they be a total creep, or if they'll even like you.
So when we do go on a first date, we stay optimistic and hope that it'll lead to a romantic relationship.
Thanks, But No Thanks
But as we all know, sometimes, a lack of chemistry, interests, or just bad vibes are enough to make us decline a second date.
While most people can accept that rejection appropriately and move on, there are others who react poorly and can't take "no" for an answer.
The TikTok
Kyle Estella, also known as @nkestella on TikTok, recently went viral for the text conversation she had with a man named Brando, with whom she declined to go on a second date, and his over-the-top reaction. The TikTok has received over 940,000 views and 44,000 likes.
The video is captioned, "I'm so done with dating."
A Bit Of Backstory
Before we delve into Kyle's viral TikTok, we first need to take a step back. In a follow-up video, she provides text messages and explains what happened following her first date to nowhere.
The first screenshot shows Kyle explaining that she's not interested in going on a second date with Brando. Part of the reason is that she doesn't want to drive back and forth between Ann Arbor and Lansing, Michigan.
Focusing On Myself
In the second half of the text, Kyle explains that she thought they both wanted different things and adds that, while she planned to give another man named Austin a chance, she later decided to forgo dating and "focus on [herself]."
Brando then accuses Kyle of not giving him a chance and ghosting him.
Ghosting
Brando then says that Kyle had better options than to ghost him, and says that as soon as someone else came along (Austin, who Kyle was interested in but then decided not to pursue), she dumped him and that it hurt his feelings.
"The matter of fact is that we had something I believe, you just chose not to go through with it," he wrote.
You're The One Who's Hurt?
The conversation then takes a turn when Kyle mentions her best friend named Pagan. She accuses Kyle of calling Pagan a "hoe" during a conversation and says that he's a hypocrite for claiming Kyle's actions hurt him, while in the same breath insulting her best friend.
Brando denies the allegations and claims he doesn't know who Pagan is.
A Second Tinder Match
Brando then recognizes Kyle's friend Pagan in that the two had matched on Tinder. He says it was she who messaged him first and had asked to hang out, but she ended up blocking him for no reason.
He denies that he ever insulted Pagan and that he barely spoke to her.

In response to Brando claiming that he barely knew Pagan, Kyle had the Tinder receipts ready to prove it.
She also adds that at the time she'd gone out on a date with Brando, she didn't know that he'd matched with her best friend, nor that he called her offensive words.
Second Chances
Frustrated, Kyle then asks Brando what he wants and he replies, "A second chance...You never gave me a chance."
She reminds him that she did give him a chance during their initial date, but she didn't feel an "intense connection" or chemistry and decided not to pursue him further.
"Bad Vibes"
She explains in the TikTok that their date was actually less than four hours, but she knew she wasn't feeling it by the end. Confused, Brando asks how a person can know if they have chemistry after such a short amount of time.
"Do [you] really think we have something? Just us texting alone give me toxic energy, you can't deny the bad vibes," she writes.
Not Getting A Second Date
Brando is confused as to how Kyle got "bad vibes" from him and maintains that he was as nice as he could be during their interactions, but the fact that she never made the effort to go on a second date was a "red flag".
In response, Kyle says she didn't ask for a second date because she didn't want one and, at the time, was interested in Austin.
No More Mr. "Nice" Guy
This is where Brando's "nice" guy colors come out. Kyle says during this exchange Brando got "really defensive" and called her "stupid" and that all women "are the same".
He then says that Austin — the guy Kyle at the time was interested in — was probably just using her and that she didn't know it.
The Main TikTok
Now here's the text conversation that we were originally introduced to in Kyle's first viral TikTok. Furious, Brando demands Kyle reimburse him for their first date, telling her that because his Venmo account is frozen, she can make a PayPal account to pay him back for parking and dinner.
"Do you want your $12?" she asks.
Now, Where Is My $12?
It's not known whether Kyle ever ended up transferring Brando $12 for their first date, but near the end of their text exchange, she makes it abundantly clear that she doesn't actually have to pay him.
She then lays it on him that he has much bigger problems to worry about than money — namely his attitudes towards women.
Your Misogyny Is Showing
"The fact that you call women wh*res, if things don't go your way u ask for a refund that's not normal behavior," Kyle writes.
Brando denies that he ever described women as "wh*res" or "hoes", but Kyle says that's not what he's told her, or her friend Pagan, before.
Forever Alone
As their heated text conversation finally reaches an end, Brando says that he doesn't care about what Kyle thinks about him because knows his "worth" as a man.
He then adds that none of what Kyle has said previously was true.
The Last Word
As a final insult, Brando then tells Kyle that she can go ahead and brag about having a 4.0 GPA at the University of Michigan.
In closing, Kyle says, "the last thing I said was 'Okay' and he gave it a thumbs up, so he really wanted the last word."
