One Guy’s Response To Not Getting A Second Date Is Why We’re Better Off Single
When we start dating someone new, we hope it will lead to something more—but sometimes, the romance is just dead on arrival. For every person who ends a relationship amicably, there's another who just can't take rejection and lashes out in immature, misogynist, and even frightening ways.
One woman on TikTok shared her story of telling a man she wasn't interested in a second date, and now she has gone viral.
Thanks But No Thanks
When we go on a date with someone for the first time, we hope it will go well and that it'll lead to a romantic relationship. But sometimes, a lack of chemistry, interests, or just bad vibes are enough to decline a second date.
While most people would accept that rejection appropriately, there are others who react poorly and can't take "no" for an answer.
The TikTok
Kyle Estella, also known as @nkestella on TikTok, recently went viral for the text conversation she had with a guy named Brando, with whom she declined to go on a second date, and his over-the-top reaction. The TikTok has received over 600,000 views and 25,000 likes.
The video is captioned, "I'm so done with dating."
A Bit Of Backstory
Before we delve into Kyle's TikTok, we first need to take a step back. In a follow-up video, she provides text messages and explains what happened following her first date to nowhere.
The first screenshot shows Kyle explaining that she's not interested in going on a second date with Brando. First, she doesn't want to drive back and forth between Ann Arbor and Lansing, Michigan, and secondly, she wants to "focus on [herself]." He then accuses Kyle of not giving him a chance and ghosting him.
Ghosting
Brando then says that Kyle had better options than to ghost him, and says that as soon as someone else came along (a man named Austin who Kyle did briefly date but then decided not to pursue), she dropped him and that it hurt his feelings.
"The matter of fact is that we had something I believe, you just chose not to go through with it," he wrote.
Read 'Em And Weep
Now here is where things begin to escalate. Kyle learns that Brando and her friend Pagan had actually matched and that he called her friend a "hoe," among other offensive words. Kyle then accuses him of being a hypocrite by saying he's the one who's "hurt."
Brando claims that he'd never heard of her friend Pagan before, but she had the Tinder receipts to prove it.
"Bad Vibes"
Frustrated, Kyle then asks Brando what he wants and he replies, "A second chance...You never gave me a chance." She explains that their date had lasted for four hours, but she wasn't feeling it, and he asks how can a person know if they have a connection after only four hours.
"Do [you] really think we have something? Just us texting alone give me toxic energy, you can't deny the bad vibes," she writes.
No More Mr. "Nice" Guy
This is where Brando's true "nice guy" colors start to come out. He accuses Kyle of mistreatment by saying that she didn't give him a chance for a second date, but she counters by saying what was the point when she already knew she wasn't interested.
Kyle says this is where Brando got "really defensive" and calls her "stupid" and that "Y'all are the same." He then says the Austin guy Kyle ignored him for was probably just using her.
The Main TikTok
Now here's the text conversation that we were originally introduced to in Kyle's first viral TikTok. Furious, Brando demands Kyle reimburse him for their first date, telling her she can make a PayPal account to pay him back for parking and dinner.
"Do you want your $12?" she asks.
Your Misogyny Is Showing
Kyle refuses to pay Brando back, and then she says he clearly has issues with women that he needs to work through (which he reacted to about as well as you'd expect). Case in point, what happened to her friend Pagan and how he flippantly uses derogatory terms such as "hoe" and "wh*res."
"The fact that you call women wh*res, if things don't go your way u ask for a refund that's not normal behavior."
Forever Alone
Brando tells Kyle that he's done and knows his worth as a man and that she can go ahead and brag about having a 4.0 GPA at the University of Michigan (which is apparently supposed to be an insult?).
So it looks like Brando is still alone, and after seeing his correspondence with Kyle, it's not hard to imagine why. He was shrouded in red flags and she thankfully dodged a huge "nice guy" bullet.
'Make His Pockets Hurt': Woman Goes On Date With Man Who Spends Over $700
A typical steak dinner between two people can cost around $100 if not more, but that apparently wasn't enough for two people who went on a date at a hot new restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia.
One woman shared her extravagant restaurant experience on TikTok, but now users are wondering whether cost matters during a fun night out, or if she was just using him for a free meal.
Dating Etiquette
Whether you're meeting someone for the first time or going on a date with something you're in a long-term relationship with, who doesn't love to spend an evening being swept off their feet?
Everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to the "perfect" date, but when you and your significant other spend a night out on the town, is there a budget in place or is your credit card limitless? That's the mentality one woman in Atlanta had during a date.
The TikTok
User @khaparisdior recently shared on TikTok her experience of going on a date with a man who wanted to take her out on an unforgettable night. The video has so far received over 260,000 views and 36,000 likes, and what's most unforgettable about it is the final number on their restaurant bill.
She captions the beginning of the TikTok with "Y'all have to try out this new restaurant in Atlanta Georgia!"
Steak Market
The restaurant @khaparisdior and her date go to is called Steak Market in Atlanta. The restaurant calls itself "a new-age steakhouse taking the fine dining experience to new territory...with traditional qualities and an extravagant atmosphere" and boasts their unique experience "will captivate more than just the steak lovers."
The TikTok begins with a panoramic view of the restaurant, followed by a deep dive into several of its "signature" dishes.
The Dining Experience
So what kind of culinary feast awaited @khaparisdior and her Prince Charming? We hope you're hungry.
Many of the menu items come with a theatrical presentation, and the couple first dines on Alaskan king crab legs with fresh-squeezed lemon. But the shining jewel of the feast is a medium-rare Japanese wagyu steak coated in 24-karat edible gold, which she calls "the best steak I've ever had."
What's Dinner Without Dessert?
The menu also features several other unique foods and drink items which are sure to cost a pretty penny. @khaparisdior tries a "signature" cocktail that emits a liquid nitrogen fog and a popsicle that's made of the same liquor.
And because no dinner is complete without dessert, the lovebirds are then served an ice cream sundae featuring three flavors of ice cream, two Snickers bars, and to top it off, is served in a giant martini glass.
"Make His Pockets Hurt"
The final part of the TikTok is a close-up view of the bill, and just a warning, it's not for the faint of heart. Items such as the Alaskan king crab legs, the edible gold-wrapped steak, and the giant sundae cost $48, $380, and $65 respectively. Including tax and an automatic 18 percent gratuity, the total price comes to a whopping $741.53.
"Make his pockets hurt," the caption near the end of the video reads.
Jealous, Much?
Many users who watched @khaparisdior's video thought the video of her date looked like an enjoyable experience for the couple. Others said that they want to check out the restaurant for themselves while @khaparisdior and others defended the date by saying that as long as she had fun, who cares about the price.
"Some of you are all are haters and do not have anything nice to say. This looks fun girl! I'm adding it to my list to check out!" one user commented.
Doing It For Social Media Points
Many users weren't so positive about the date, however. While many users thought the theatrics of the restaurant itself was as over-the-top as the prices, others thought that @khaparisdior was only using this date in order to get attention on social media and felt poorly for the man who had to foot the bill. Another user called her a "gold digger".
"Having money doesn't mean you have taste lmao. Y'all trying so hard to look rich and it's pathetic," one user wrote.
