Entitled Husband And Father Demands ‘Birthday Month’ With No Responsibilities

Regardless of age, birthdays are special and are meant to be celebrated. But for some, a single day to celebrate just isn't enough.

With her husband's 30th birthday just around the corner, one frustrated wife has taken to Reddit to vent about his upcoming birthday, and the entitled list of demands he wants as part of his "birthday month."

From cake to parties, presents, and decor, people love to celebrate their birthday, especially when it's a milestone one.

But for some people, a birth day isn't quite enough time to celebrate, and they stretch their festivities across a weekend or even an entire week. But if you're this guy, forget a birthday week, he's demanding a birthday month.

User Change-Ad9635 took to Reddit to vent regarding her man-baby husband's entitled demands for his birthday. She begins the story by saying that his 30th birthday is just around the corner, so they're in the process of making celebratory plans.

"It's a big deal for him clearly and he wanted to rightfully be 'pampered' and feel special on this occasion," she wrote.

The husband then gives his wife a list of "birthday month expectations." Confused, she asks him what he means and he begins reading from the list.

He doesn't want to do any chores and wants to play Xbox all day without his wife "nagging" him. He doesn't want to pay his portion of the rent, can hang out with his friends whenever he wants, gets to skip any given workday, and is free from childcare responsibilities.

"In other words, he wants a month-long vacation and time off from his responsibilities as a partner and as a father," she wrote.

Shocked, she asks her husband if he is serious, and he says not to worry because it'll "only last for a month." Knowing that both partners have full-time jobs, a son to care for, that she does most of the chores and pays most of the rent and bills, the wife puts her foot down.

The wife adds that they are currently struggling, so it's not the time to be making frivolous demands, writing, "I called him ridiculous and said absolutely not I do not agree on anything on that list and said that his expectations for his birthday month [were] out of line."

The husband calls her selfish, adding that if the tables were turned and it was she who wanted a birthday month, he'd do everything possible to make it "the happiest month of the year" for her.

The wife says a "birthday month" is unheard of, and he counters that his parents and friends did it for him for years (which is news to her). Therefore, he argues, his own wife should want to continue the trend and make him happy.

She refuses to participate, and the husband has not only been ignoring her but whining about how disappointed he is that he's not getting the birthday month of his dreams (cue tiny violin).

So, what did the lovely people of Reddit think about this story? Well, let's just say sympathy runs deep for the wife, but the husband was referred to using affectionate terms such as "man child" and "man-baby." They said his behavior is akin to a spoiled toddler throwing a tantrum.

Aside from behaving like a child, users were shocked by the husband's dereliction of his duties as a husband and father.

"As an adult you don't get a 'birthday month' (month!? what kind of spoiled entitled s**t is this?) or get to ignore your responsibilities for a month. His request is so unrealistic and out [of] touch with reality," another user commented.
