Woman Accidentally Receives Rude Email From Hiring Manager After Applying For A Sales Job
A hiring manager at a beauty boutique in Auburn Hills, Michigan, has publicly apologized after a young woman outed him for saying she shouldn't be interviewed. The reason? She was "not that cute."
Gracie Lorincz explained via TikTok that she received an accidental email from the VP of Operations of a boutique she had applied to work at. Most users who saw Gracie's video were outraged and took it upon themselves to send hate to the boutique and its owners, though some think the whole situation has gone too far.
Gracie's Video Went Viral
Gracie Lorincz, a 21-year-old, recently posted a shocking TikTok video that now has nearly 2 million views.
In the video, she shows the accidental email she received from called Ava Lane Boutique where she had applied for a position as a brand representative.

Chuck DeGrendel wrote in his email: "This girl is fresh out of college (Hope college) and not that cute. She applied to the sales model position. Are you sure you want me to interview her?"
Here's the kicker: The email was actually meant for DeGrendel's wife and co-owner, Laura DeGrendel.

Gracie posted the screenshot alongside the sarcastic caption "feeling amazing."
At the beginning of the video, Gracie notes that the company's motto is "beauty for confidence." If you're just going to act like every other modeling agency, maybe switch up your motto, Ava Lane!
TikTokers Left Negative Reviews Online
Even though Gracie never asked people to send the company hate or negative reviews, the video sparked a TON backlash online.
Many angry TikTokers took it upon themselves to leave negative reviews on the company's Google Play page. Many of these reviews have since been deleted by the boutique.
Some People Couldn't Believe It
Some people were supportive of Gracie's feelings, explaining that the email was "so unprofessional" and that the situation just gave off really bad vibes.
If this is only one of the emails between the two, imagine what else has been said about other applicants... Yikes.
"This Is Going Way Overboard"
Some users thought that the whole thing went overboard. One commenter explained that the email shouldn't be the reason why people choose to "cancel" the boutique.
Technically, they are allowed to choose someone who fits their vision for the brand.

Lastly, there were some people who pointed out that it was a sales position, which often relies on having a specific "look" that fits the brand, and that now the brand is "ruined."
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it does seem ridiculous that this company's motto is literally "beauty for confidence" when the owners make remarks like that—private or not.
Ava Lane's Apology
Chuck DeGrendel has since made an apology video. "I sent a reply back to Laura that said that she was a recent college grad, and I didn't feel that she was that cute, so I wasn't sure if we wanted to proceed with an interview," Chuck says in the video.
"I don't know why I said that, but I did, and I'm very, very sorry for saying that because it was very unprofessional and really not in line with our core values here, or my core values in general."
Some Thought The Apology Was Very Insincere
Even though some people supported the apology, many users on Twitter didn't believe that it was sincere, but instead an attempt to do damage control for their business.
Many commenters didn't think it was fitting that his wife also appeared in the video, begging for privacy, and noted that he never apologized personally to Gracie.
