Woman Condemns Man Who Matched On Bumble Just To Fat-Shame Her
When it comes to our physical appearances, fewer things make us as self-conscious as our weight. With the rise of dating apps, the onus on our physical appearance is more prominent than ever before.
A woman who was bullied by a man who swiped right just so he could fat-shame her is now firing back, and she has a message for the man who bullied her and others like him.

Nowadays, more and more people are finding love on dating apps. While Tinder is probably the biggest app out there, others have found success as well, such as Bumble.
What makes Bumble unique however is that, much like Tinder, both users have to swipe right on each other in order to match. But for heterosexual matches, women have to be the first to send a message.
Body Shaming
When it comes to our weight and physical appearance in general, it's something that everyone struggles with at one point or another. While many people are self-conscious about it, others use ones' weight as a punching bag.
That's exactly what one woman on TikTok experienced while on Bumble. Now, she's sharing her story and shedding light on the issue.
The TikTok
Sammid, also known as @samid123420 on TikTok, recently went viral with nearly 600,000 views for her experience with being a plus-sized woman on dating apps. In particular, her Bumble conversation with a man named Josh who only swiped right on her for a very cruel reason.
"My opening line for Bumble is always this," Sammid says. "Your hand looks heavy, let me hold it for you."
Opening Lines
Her "always and forever" pick-up line, Sammid wasn't too surprised when Josh replied back "U look heavy". She says that hurtful comments regarding her weight are something she gets from time to time. Sammid usually deletes the messages, but today, she wasn't having any of it.
In response, she fires back "oh I know someone who's under 6 feet didn't call me fat".
Conversation Escalation
In response, Josh asked Sammid if she's ever tried eating a salad. Suspecting the true reason why he swiped right on her profile, Sammid replies back "do you genuinely talk to other girls like this or is it just the fat ones you're mean to?" Josh then responds that he only behaves this way to women he views as "whales".
"He openly admitted to being mean to fat people," Sammid says. "What?"
True Or False
When Sammid says that his previous comments only prove he's a "piece of s**t," he doubles down on the insults further, calling her a liar because her profile says she sometimes works out.
Fed up with his hurtful and fat-phobic comments, Sammid drops a truth bomb on Josh.
The Truth Bomb
"I know your brain is the size of a pea so what I'm about to say might be shocking, but skinny doesn't equal healthy. So yes, I do workout but I don't do it to lose weight because I'm actually comfortable in my skin," Sammid wrote.
She adds her weight is something she's always struggled with, so she's focusing on "loving and accepting" her body. That is until she started speaking to Josh who put her back "at square one".
End Of Conversation
Josh's second text says he's going to end the conversation in hopes it'll motivate Sammid to lose weight. When she replies back that it didn't and she is instead going to go "bleep herself", Josh says that would then make room for three more people. She then asks if he swiped right just to be mean to her.
Disgusted with Josh's behavior and fat-phobia in general, Sammid ends the video with an important message.
A Parting Message
Sammid says that she did report Josh to Bumble, but the practice of men swiping right on plus-sized women just so they can fat-shame them is common.
"As someone who is learning to be comfortable in their skin, it really just set me back a lot," Sammid says. "My whole day's ruined, I feel like, just because of him. And I know I shouldn't let him ruin it, but it is, and I'm worried he's going to do it to someone else who is more vulnerable than me."
A Follow-Up TikTok
In response to her vial TikTok, Sammid had received a request from a user to turn the tables around and see what Josh looks like. In a follow-up video, she addresses this question and shows a few photos from 21-year-old Josh's profile.
"That is the gentleman who bullied me for being fat," she says.
Payback, TikTok Style
As payback for how he humiliated Sammid for her weight, she then pokes fun at Josh and his profile in her follow-up video. We see that he's a college student, 5'11" tall, interested in working out, is an Aries, and his bio reads "came back for the vibes."
"What vibes did you come back for, Joshua?" Sammid asks. "Aries and J name - double whammy."
A Happy Ending
Sammid expresses her gratitude for TikTok users who supported her and for bringing this particular situation, and the issue of men swiping right on women just to fat-shame them, to Bumble's attention.
She then provides a happy update. Sammid says that in response to her TikTok, Bumble banned Josh from the app, which she calls "a win".
