Woman Has Message For Man Who Stalked Her For Five Miles To Tell Her She’s Pretty
Every woman has a horror story where a man has followed or catcalled her or even harassed her because she rejected his advances. Women sharing their stories on social media has proven just how commonplace this behavior actually is.
Even though "not all men" are like this, enough are, so it's still a cause of fear for many women. Now, a woman on TikTok has a message for the men who think this type of behavior is acceptable.
The TikTok
Ken, known as @buzzcutkenny on TikTok, recently went viral for a frightening encounter she had with a stranger while out driving home one day. The video has so far received over 300,000 views, 89,000 likes, and 3,000 comments.
"Why would this ever be ok," she captioned the video.
Arriving At Home
She begins by explaining that she was out driving and had just pulled into her apartment complex when she noticed another vehicle right behind her. Because it was an apartment building home to hundreds of people, she brushed it off as being a neighbor.
"This car like wedges itself in between me and the parking garage, and I'm like, 'What the [hell]?' There's a man in it, so already I'm like, 'Meh.'"
Personal Questions
The man then motions for Ken to roll her window down, which strikes her as odd, but she does it. Confused, she asks if there's anything she can help him with. He then asks her a series of personal questions that immediately set off alarm bells.
"This man said, 'Do you live here?' so I say, 'No,' and he was like, 'Are you from Austin?' and I'm like, 'No, visiting a friend.'"
Five Miles
The stranger then tells Ken that he's been following her in his car for five miles because he saw her at a stoplight and wanted to tell her she was pretty.
Ken ends her TikTok with a short but important question for anyone watching: "In what [freaking] world is that appropriate?"
"Not All Men"
Ken's alarming video received a large number of comments, and while the vast majority of them were supportive, others instead blamed Ken for how she reacted to a man who "just wanted to give [her] a compliment."
But women quickly chimed in to say that while men might think this behavior is charming, every woman has a similar horror story and it's not flattering—it's terrifying.
This Behavior Is Not Appropriate
Most users who watched Ken's video were horrified by what she'd experienced, and even more so by some of the comments which claimed "not all men" behave this way. They add that this type of behavior isn't complimentary, but rather stalkerish and predatory.
"When women generalize men, feelings get hurt. When men generalize women, women get murdered—or worse," one user commented. "Men need to check their privilege and priorities."
