Woman Is Putting Party Bus Company On Blast After They Turned Her Away For Being A ‘Big Girl’
When you take a girls' trip to Miami Beach, Florida, one of your first destinations has got to be a pool party. In order to get to the party, one group of women opted for a party bus, but unfortunately, things didn't end well.
Apparently, some party buses aren't accessible for everyone and will discriminate against you based on your size and weight.
Meet Fallon Melillo
Fallon Melillo, aka @curvybb on TikTok, recently went viral for exposing a party bus company for not letting her on the bus because she was plus-sized.
Fallon, 27, is a popular body positivity advocate and was humiliated by the situation.
She And Her Friends Wanted To Go To A Pool Party
She explains in the video that the incident happened when she was with a few friends in Miami. "Last week, from July 29 until August 1, I went to Miami Beach. I stayed there with a few friends for the entire weekend."
"On July 31, we decided to go to a pool party. This pool party was located at DAER Dayclub in the Hard Rock Hotel."
They Decided To Take A Party Bus
"Earlier that week, one of the girls in our group contacted a promoter to get party bus tickets through this place called Spring Break Miami Party Service. And we got the tickets."
Fallon explains that the tickets were $40 upfront and $10 at the door. But the night before, she looked at the Eventbrite ticket and saw something that shocked her.
"No Big Girls"
Fallon shared the above image of the party bus website. "If you decide to read, you can obviously tell that it says that there's no bigger women or plus-sized women allowed."
"However, the promoter did not disclose this information to the girl that reached out to him regarding the tickets for the party bus."
DAER Dayclub Is A Separate Company
"I just want to be clear, the actual day club, DAER Dayclub, has nothing to do with the party bus service. It's a third-party company.
"We actually reached out to DAER and asked if they do any type of discrimination against weight, and they said no, but this party bus clearly does."
The Promoter Never Told Them That Bigger Girls "Weren't Allowed"
"The promoter didn't mention anything to the girl that asked about the tickets. He didn't say bigger women are not allowed which technically, I guess isn't illegal."
While what the party promoters were doing technically didn't break any laws, it was still rude and humiliating, and extremely hurtful to Fallon.
"The Doorman Is Strict On Appearance"
The exact description on the party bus website is as follows: "Sorry, no big girls for this party! The doorman is very strict on appearance."
"If you have had problems getting into exclusive clubs before, then this is not for you! Please don't waste your time nor ours thinking that we can get you inside if you do not meet the qualifications," the page said.
The Girls Decided To Go Anyway
The group decided to go because they had spoken to the club and confirmed that it did not have the same views as the party bus company.
Fallon was denied access to the party bus.
She Exposed The Company's Address
Fallon explained that although they were refunded, it was very embarrassing.
She urges people to boycott this company, and then explained that they are located at 1638 Collins A in Miami Beach.
"We Shouldn't Support This Ideal"
Fallon urges everyone, not just the women who would've been denied entry to the bus, to take notice and stop supporting companies that discriminate.
"I originally created this platform for body neutrality, body acceptance, and body positivity. And I think it would be wrong to not speak about this experience."
"Take An Uber Instead"
She ends the video by urging her followers not to use this service.
She suggested taking an Uber instead, or looking for a company that doesn't discriminate against overweight people. Check out her video above.
A Not-So-Positive Update
In an update video, Fallon explained that the Eventbrite page got taken down and replaced by a new event.
The new one is called Open Bar Party + DAER Pool Party (EDM – Electronic Music)," and claims that "a model look is encouraged."
Some Good News: She Spoke A CEO
Fallon recently explained in a TikTok that the CEO of the Hard Rock Hotel (where DAER Dayclub is located) called her, and the two spoke for around 10 minutes.
He explained that they will no longer be working with that company.
They Apologized
He also told Fallon that they will be more mindful of which transportation companies they decide to collaborate with.
And restated they DAER does not share the same fatphobic views as the party bus company. Fallon seemed extremely happy with the conversation.
