Woman Receives ‘I Love You’ Text From Married Ex-Boyfriend, He Begs Her Not To Tell
When you end a relationship, you assume that you'll never interact with your ex again. But whether in person or via text, they sometimes have a way of popping back into your life and causing trouble.
One of these interactions has recently gone viral on TikTok and it features a woman, her ex-boyfriend, his wife, text messages, and a series of voicemails.
Late-Night Text Messages
It's 1 in the morning when you randomly receive a "Heyyy" text from an ex-boyfriend. Whether you text them back, ignore them, or block them, it can be awkward to know what to do. So then how would you react if they admitted they still loved you?
One woman was recently on the receiving end of one of these text messages and the conversation has gone viral on TikTok.
The TikTok
This is Katie Lacie, also known as @katielacie on TikTok. Katie is a therapist and describes herself as a person who uses "humor as a defense mechanism." One of Katie's TikToks recently went viral amassing nearly 7.5 million views, and it involves a late-night text from someone she didn't expect.
The caption on the video reads, "Got this from my married ex..."
Her Married Ex-Boyfriend
In the video, Katie sits on her couch while screenshots of a text conversation from her now-married ex-boyfriend appear. At 1 a.m., he sends her a text that says, "I love you babe."
Confused, she attributes it to him accidentally sending the text to the wrong person, so she brushes it off. In response, he writes, "I'll prob always love you Katie even if I'm with her."
Married Ex: Part Two
In a follow-up video, Katie shares the additional texts she received from her married ex-boyfriend. She then responds how she's unsure how to respond to such a brazen message and he replies that if she said she'll always love him too, he wouldn't be too upset.
Frustrated, Katie reminds him that he has a wife.
The Unassuming Wife
In response to that, her married ex-boyfriend says that while he cares about his wife "deeply," their level of emotional connection will never reach what he and Katie once had.
Katie then says that she is uncomfortable with this conversation and admits that if she were the wife, she'd want to know that her husband is talking this way with his ex-girlfriend.
To Tell, Or Not To Tell
The ex-boyfriend then asks Katie whether or not she's going to tell his wife about his late-night conversation. She says she feels conflicted but that as a woman, the wife has a right to know. Frantic, he begs Katie to keep it between themselves.
"Then maybe you should tell her you're having these thoughts/feelings [because] it's not really fair to her," Katie responds.
Pick Up The Phone
Katie's ex-boyfriend then texts her back panicked and tells her to pick up the phone so they can discuss the issue personally. When she refuses to answer the phone, he continues pleading.
But that's not quite where our story ends, and that's courtesy of two voicemails.
Roll The Tapes
In another follow-up video, Katie explains that her ex-boyfriend left her two voicemails after she refused to answer her phone.
Before rolling the tapes, she clarifies that before publicly posting these voicemails, she first spoke to the wife and got permission to share them because she didn't want her to have to find out about it over social media. She also adds that she's never "messed around" with a married man.
The Drunken Voicemail
In the first voicemail, Katie's ex-boyfriend admits to being "drunk and stupid." He says his wife cannot find out about the text messages because she "won't understand" and fears she'll leave him.
"I'm happy with her," he says. "It was just a moment of weakness. Can you please pick up and we can just talk about this and just forget it ever happened?"
The Final Voicemail
In the second voicemail, he once again begs Katie to not tell his wife and answer the phone, saying, "If I ever meant anything to you at all, you'll just call me back and talk this out. I was just being an a-hole, this doesn't need to go any further."
However, it's unknown what happened between Katie's ex-boyfriend and his wife following the voicemails going public.
