Woman’s Date Sends Her Home In An Uber After He Sees How She’s Dressed
When going out to a trendy new bar with friends or a corporate event with colleagues, you want to look your best for the occasion. After all, first impressions are key.
That's what one woman on TikTok thought when she was about to go to her boyfriend's work function, and now she's gone viral for why she was sent home in an Uber and the "revealing" outfit that sparked it all.
Work Events
Whether it's a December Christmas party or a summertime BBQ, workplaces often throw parties for their employees and plus ones as a form of gratitude and to foster morale. Whether you're there just for the open bar or because you genuinely like your coworkers, they're usually a good time.
But if you're attending a corporate event as a plus one, it can be hard to know what to wear so that you make a good impression.
The TikTok
Nikki Jabs, also known as @nikki.jabs on TikTok, recently went viral for a series of TikToks that have collectively racked up tens of millions of views.
They depict what happened leading up to a work event she was going to attend with her new boyfriend and her "revealing" outfit.
"He Was Too Embarrassed To Be Seen With Me"
Nikki went on to say that "He was too embarrassed to be seen with me in this outfit, so he sent me home in an Uber and went to the opening without me."
This immediately set off some red flags.
Red Flags
In subsequent videos, Nikki explains how things escalated to this point.
Her new boyfriend's retail company was having a grand opening event for employees and Nikki was invited to attend as a plus one and was looking forward to getting glammed up.
He Wasn't So Keen
Her boyfriend, however, is less keen on her choice in clothing and makeup.
In the weeks leading up to the event, he had repeatedly said he likes when she looks "natural" and isn't "overdressed".
A Night On The Town
On the night in question, Nikki had planned to first go to dinner with her boyfriend and then head over to the work event.
Inside the car, he begins staring at her repeatedly and she gets worried.
She Was Getting A Bad Vibe
He first tells her that she looks pretty, but then Nikki gets a bad vibe, and asks if she's overdressed.
"Are you going to be embarrassed if I show up to your work function like this?"
Can I Call You An Uber?
The boyfriend replies that she's appropriately dressed for the restaurant, but doesn't respond when she asks about the work function. At the restaurant, Nikki asks him if she should go home and change, to which he responds that he feels bad about putting her in that situation.
"I said at the restaurant, 'I'm either going like this, or I'm not going at all.' And then he said, 'Well, can I call you an Uber?'"
The Uber Ride Home
In another video, Nikki voices her frustration and hurt with being sent home and shares two selfies during the car ride home where she is visibly fighting back tears.
"I'm just so sad because I spent so much time trying to look pretty, and he sent me home in an Uber," she says. "Who does that? He sent me home with a stranger on a Friday night."
The Controversial Outfit
What was so inappropriate with Nikki's outfit?
In multiple videos, she wears the outfit, which features a pair of light pink pants and belt, and a sheer long-sleeved black shirt with a small midriff, adding that it took 40 minutes alone to do her makeup.
She Probably Would Have Been Fine
The boyfriend's company sells athletic/leisure clothing, and he showed up to the event wearing joggers and running shoes.
He later told Nikki that her "revealing" outfit would have actually been appropriate.
Moving Out
Nikki explains that while he was attending his work function, she went back to his place (where she'd been living for three weeks), packed up all of her belongings, and moved back into her van with her cat. He begged Nikki to come back, but her answer was clear.
"He tried to hug me and I didn't have any of it," she says.
